What it takes to find the Perfect Bridal Wear

Finding your dream Bridal Wear is never easy. Luckily, we’ve put together a quick checklist to ensure you pick one that fits the bill perfectly!

How to find your “Dream” Wedding Dress and Bridal Wear

Bridal wear can be one of the most exciting aspects of planning your big day. But at the same time, it can be an overwhelming and emotionally stressful experience too.

Before you throw your hands up and shed a tear or two in the changing room, pay heed to the practical advice below which will make choosing the right wedding dress practically a walk in the park:

Do a little research beforehand on your wedding dress

Finding the right dress can be a time-consuming process, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be. While Pinterest and Instagram are great places to get ideas and inspiration, actually narrowing it down to the finding the right styles and colours that beautifully compliment your skin tone and body type takes a lot more.

For instance, if your figure is generally athletic and you’re not particularly heavy-chested, then you need to be getting inspiration from bridal wear makers that cater to similar body types and perhaps see photos of models who have similar physical attributes.

But photos can only do so much. You can always go down to a few bridal wear shops and try out some of their dresses, although this can be challenging given the current circumstances. Why not work with a bridal wear specialist who will take it care of it all for you?

Your search begins at least 6-9 months before the Big Day

We’d recommend starting out at least 6 months ahead of time, although 9 months is even better. Some brides, in fact, get a headstart 12-14 months out. This window is necessary, as it gives your bridal wear designer time to make alterations and add other finishing touches.

Furthermore, your body can go through a fair amount of changes over the course of 6-12 months, unless you’re super-strict about your diet, exercise and lifestyle. If you’re planning to get in shape, however, or want a certain look, then we’d recommend you get ‘the look’ first and then start planning your wedding dress. Just move the wedding ahead by a few months if you need to, because your wedding dress is the one thing you do not want to rush.

Carefully select your style

Many brides cave in to what their friends and family recommend, while others try to replicate what they see on TV or magazines – Megan Markle-style wedding dress, anyone?

Let’s be realistic: one of the first things that has a direct impact on the wedding dress style is the venue and overall wedding theme.

Most weddings nowadays are themed – so if you’re having a festival style barn wedding, a mermaid style gown is not going to go down well.

To make it really easy on yourself though, just browse through our list of the UK’s top bridal wear specialists and work your way from there. Happy hunting!
